President UAA


It is my honour and privilege to serve the Urological Association of Asia (UAA) as its President for a duration of 2 years from 2008-2010.

UAA was started in the year 1990 and, at present, we have 20 nations as members. Asia is inhabited by two-third of the world’s population. Due to different economic situations, education and awareness, there is a big gap in urological care and education in different nations in Asia. The aim and objectives of the UAA is to narrow this gap and to have uniform education and urological care. We are planning for various teaching programmes/ seminars/ workshops and traveling fellowships in collaboration with Asian School of Urology to have uniform education in urology. We will also encourage various educational and awareness programmes for the urological diseases so that the patients can become aware of these and can have prevention or come early for their treatment.

We will also be encouraging other Asian nations and neighbouring countries to join the UAA. The efforts are to have collaboration with other major associations of the world like AUA, EAU, SIU to have uniform urological education and patient care.

UAA has national membership and during the 9th Asian Congress of Urology, we have agreed to have individual active membership for urologists from Asian countries and affiliated membership for urologists from non-Asian countries. I sincerely request all the urologists to become member of UAA so that we can have more close interactions through electronic media for activities of the Society.
